Note from Jeannette Heikens, our volunteer in Malawi who coordinates our activities on the ground.
On the 26th of March the Headmaster of Ntambanyama CDSS, Mr. Chimenya, the chairman of the school committee and I went to Luchenza to buy the
roofing, roof ridges, roof nails, wire and wire nails at the Macsteel hardware shop. The lorry took our purchases back to Ntambanyama where the parents and
builder were already preparing for renovating. They are all eager to have it done before the school start on the 11th and the lunch project start on the
Monday after. The pictures shows the lorry loaded with the roofing materials from Macsteel and the cement bags bought at ENEKA stores at Luchenza (see 2d picture with Mr. Chimenya) and the 3rd picture shows Luchenza. On Friday I will go for a visit as Mr. Chimenya phones me twice a week to tell me of the progress.
About calculators. (also donated by Sibford School children and staff)
The schools are very pleased with the calculators. It would be very useful if the next collection of calculators were scientific calculators for logarithmic
calculations for the form 4, final school exams. But really, the schools are very happy with the calculators and have agreed a the plan to make them the
responsibility of the school.
